Arcane Prism

wondrous item, rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

This small crystal prism refracts light in dazzling colors. You can use it as a spellcasting focus for your spells.

Prismatic Cone

When you cast a spell that has a range of at least 30 feet and either creates a line or requires a ranged spell attack, you can choose to cast the spell through the prism and alter the spell’s effect. The spell becomes a cone that originates from you and extends to a distance equal to one-third of the spell’s original range. If the spell required a ranged spell attack, it now requires each creature in the cone to make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the creature takes the spell’s damage and is affected by any additional effects of the spell. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage and avoids any additional effects.
You can use this property of the prism a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
