Oblex's Memory Vial

wondrous item, rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

This glass vial contains a small amount of yellowish slime that constantly shifts and bubbles. The slime is a fragment of an Oblex's body that retains some of its memory-draining abilities.

Forget it

As an action, you can throw the vial at a creature within 30 feet of you. The vial shatters on impact, and the target must make a DC 15 Intelligence saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes psychic damage and forgets one random spell that it knows or has prepared (if it has any). The target can't cast that spell until it finishes a long rest. On a successful save, the target takes half as much damage and doesn't forget any spells.

Reform

You can use a bonus action to mentally command the slime to return to you if it is within 120 feet of you. The slime crawls back to you and reforms into a new vial in your hand. You can't use this item again until the next dawn.

Memory Keeper

While you are attuned to this item, you gain access to one random spell that was forgotten by a creature affected by this item. You can cast this spell once using your spellcasting ability modifier as if it was one of your known or prepared spells. You then lose access to this spell until you use this item again.
