Rocket of Randomness

wondrous item (consumable), rare

This metal cylinder has a fuse at one end and a small nozzle at the other.

Fireworks

As an action, you can light the fuse and launch the rocket towards a target within 120 feet. The rocket flies to the location before exploding in a dazzling display of colors. Each creature within 30 feet of the explosion must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take fire damage and be blinded until the end of their next turn. Once used, the rocket is destroyed and cannot be used again.

Random effect

In addition to the explosion, roll a d10 to determine a random effect that occurs at the center of the explosion:
d10Effect
1A cloud of poisonous gas fills a 20-foot-radius sphere. Each creature in the cloud must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The cloud dissipates after 1 minute.
2A burst of thunderous sound deafens each creature within 30 feet of the center for 1 minute. Each deafened creature must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
3A shower of gold coins rains down from the sky, totaling gp.
4A swarm of butterflies emerges from the explosion and flutters around for 1 minute. The butterflies are harmless and have no effect on creatures or objects.
5A blast of cold air freezes each creature within 30 feet of the center. Each creature must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
6A spray of colorful confetti covers each creature and object within 30 feet of the center. The confetti is harmless and has no effect on creatures or objects, but it is difficult to remove and lasts until washed off.
7A beam of radiant light shines down from the sky, illuminating a 30-foot-radius sphere centered on the explosion. Each creature in the light must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is charmed by you until the end of your next turn. On a successful save, the creature is frightened of you until the end of your next turn.
8A gust of wind blows outward from the center of the explosion, knocking each creature within 30 feet of the center prone. Each creature must make a DC 15 Strength saving throw to avoid being pushed 10 feet away from the center.
9A ring of fire surrounds the center of the explosion, forming a 20-foot-diameter circle that is 5 feet high. The ring of fire lasts for 1 minute. Any creature that enters the ring or ends its turn there must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
10A portal to a random plane of existence opens at the center of the explosion, lasting for 1 minute. Any creature that enters the portal is transported to the other plane. The DM determines the destination plane and whether the portal is one-way or two-way.
