This weapon is forged from the very gears of Mechanus, the plane of absolute order and law. It is a symbol of the inevitability of fate and the power of logic. In it's dormant state it has the following features:

Mandate of Precision

When you make an attack with this weapon, you do not roll. Instead, you treat the d20 roll as 11. This property overrides any feature that lets you reroll or replace the attack roll.

Mandate of Harm

When you hit a creature with this weapon, you add +2 to the damage roll.

Mandate of Protection

Once per long rest, when you fail an Ability Check or Saving Throw you can choose to replace the roll with an 11, potentially turning the failure into a success.

Lore

Deep within the clockwork realm of Mechanus, a single Quadrone (the cube-shaped Modron) experienced a critical malfunction. A stray shard of raw chaos, perhaps a fragment from the outer realm of Limbo, pierced its casing and disrupted its processing core. This chaotic intrusion sparked a flicker of uncertainty within the Quadrone, a deviation from its unwavering logic.
Unable to reconcile this anomaly with its programming, the Quadrone attempted to purge the foreign influence. The process, however, went awry. The chaotic energy, instead of being expelled, became entangled with the Quadrone's lawful essence, creating a warped version of its being.
This warped Quadrone, no longer a true Modron, became a beacon of contradictory energy. It influenced other Modrons nearby, subtly infecting them with the same chaotic urges. A localized malfunction began to spread, threatening the perfect order of Mechanus.
The higher-ranking Modrons, detecting the anomaly, dispatched a squad of Decatons (ten-sided Modrons) to neutralize the corrupted Quadrone and its influenced followers. Leading this squad was a Dodecahedron (twelve-sided Modron), a powerful entity known for its unwavering adherence to order.
The ensuing battle raged across the metallic plains of Mechanus. The Dodecahedron, leading the Decaton squad, witnessed the corrupted Quadrone warping the very fabric of Mechanus. Recognizing the dire threat, it channeled its vast lawful energy in a desperate attempt to contain the chaos. The resulting explosion purged the corrupted Modrons and shattered the Quadrone's form. However, the force of the Dodecahedron's lawful energy ripped free a massive gear from the very foundation of Mechanus, a gear vital to the plane's operation.
Witnessing the sacrifice of the Dodecahedron and the disruption caused by the explosion, Primus, the supreme ruler of Mechanus, intervened. He recognized the potential within the dislodged gear - a symbol of unwavering law, forged from the heart of Mechanus itself. With a gesture of his will, Primus reforged the shattered gear into a mighty greataxe - Fate's Edge. This weapon became an embodiment of pure order, a testament to the Dodecahedron's sacrifice, and a tool to combat any future threats to Mechanus' perfect harmony.
