This javelin is a sleek metal rod with a razor-sharp point. It feels heavy in your hand, but despite it's weight it's surprisingly easy to throw.

Razor Sharp

You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

Impale

When you hit a creature with a ranged attack using this javelin, the target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or become impaled by the javelin, taking an extra piercing damage and becoming restrained until the javelin is removed. The javelin pins the target to the ground or any solid surface behind it, preventing the target from moving unless it breaks free.
As an action, the impaled creature can attempt to free itself from the javelin by making a DC 15 Strength (Athletics) check. On a success, the creature is no longer restrained and can move normally, but takes slashing damage as the javelin tears through its flesh.

Recall

As a bonus action, you can speak the javelin’s command word and cause it to return to your hand, provided that you are within 100 feet of it and have a free hand. If the javelin is impaling a creature, the creature takes slashing damage as the javelin pulls free from it.

High Ground

If you are at least 5 feet higher than your target when you throw this javelin, you deal an additional piercing damage for every 10 feet of height difference, up to a maximum of . This damage is added after applying the impalement effect.

Lore

The javelin of impalement is a legendary weapon that was forged by a master smith named Korvan. Korvan was a human who lived in the kingdom of Valyria, a land of mountains, valleys, and rivers. He was renowned for his skill in crafting weapons and armor, and he had a passion for studying the secrets of magic.
Korvan was fascinated by the power of force, the fundamental energy that shapes reality. He wanted to create a weapon that could harness this power and use it to pierce through any obstacle or enemy. He spent years researching and experimenting, until he finally discovered a way to infuse a metal rod with force magic. He shaped the rod into a masterwork javelin, and enchanted the javelin to return to his hand when he spoke a command word.
Korvan named his creation the javelin of impalement, and he tested it on various targets. He found that the javelin could fly faster and farther than any normal javelin, and that it could impale any creature or object with ease. He also discovered that the javelin had an additional effect when thrown from high ground: it would deal more damage for every foot of height difference, as if gravity was amplifying its force.
Korvan was proud of his masterpiece, but he also realized that it was too dangerous to be used by anyone. He decided to keep it hidden in his workshop, and only use it for his own defense. However, his secret did not last long. One day, a group of bandits raided his workshop, hoping to steal his valuable creations. Korvan fought back with his javelin, but he was outnumbered and overwhelmed. The bandits killed him and took his javelin, along with his other weapons and armor.
The bandits did not know how to use the javelin properly, and they soon lost it in a fight with another group of bandits. The javelin changed hands many times over the years, passing from one thief to another, from one warlord to another, from one adventurer to another. It became a legend among those who sought power and glory, and many stories were told about its feats and exploits.
