The Silver Eye
Illustration: Timmmi (using AI-tools like Midjourney & Dall-E)

A gleaming disk of silver that reflects more than reality. It is framed by simple wood and hung by a leather cord, but its true value lies in its enchantment. But beware, for the mirror may also show you what you fear the most.

If it fails, it takes psychic damage from its fears. If it succeeds, it takes half as much damage and can escape the mirror and return to where it was.

Lore

The Silver Eye was created by Lilura, a powerful witch who lived in the Feywild. Lilura was obsessed with finding her true love, a mortal prince who had visited her realm once and stolen her heart. She used her magic to craft a mirror that could show her the way to him, as well as manipulate the minds and emotions of others. She also imbued the mirror with a fragment of her own soul, making it a conduit for her influence.
Lilura spent years searching for her prince, using the mirror to charm, deceive, and dominate anyone who stood in her way. She eventually found him in a distant kingdom, married to another woman. Enraged and heartbroken, she used the mirror to trap him inside it, hoping to make him love her by showing him his worst fears. However, she underestimated his willpower and his love for his wife. He resisted her attempts to break him and eventually escaped the mirror with the help of his loyal friends.
Lilura was furious and vowed revenge on the prince and his kingdom. She gathered an army of fey creatures and launched an invasion on the mortal realm. She used the mirror to sow chaos and fear among her enemies, as well as to bargain with other powerful beings for their aid. She was a formidable foe, but she also made many enemies along the way. One of them was an archfey named Tharion, who coveted the mirror for himself.
Tharion was a master of illusions and trickery, and he saw the potential of the mirror as a tool for his own schemes. He also resented Lilura for her arrogance and cruelty. He decided to steal the mirror from her and use it against her. He disguised himself as one of her allies and infiltrated her camp. He managed to snatch the mirror from her tent and flee with it. He then used it to contact her telepathically and taunt her.
Lilura was enraged and pursued Tharion across the Feywild. She wanted to reclaim her mirror and punish him for his betrayal. Tharion led her on a wild chase, using the mirror to confuse and mislead her. He also used it to cast spells on her and trap some of her followers inside it. He enjoyed playing with her, but he also feared her wrath. He knew he had to get rid of the mirror before she caught up with him.
He decided to hide the mirror in the mortal realm, where he thought she would never find it. He found a secluded spot in a forest and buried the mirror under a pile of leaves. He then cast an illusion over it to make it look like an ordinary rock. He hoped that no one would ever find it or disturb it.
However, fate had other plans. The mirror was eventually discovered by a curious adventurer who dug it up and took it with him. The adventurer soon realized that the mirror was more than it seemed, and that it had a mind of its own. He also realized that he was not the only one interested in it. He began to hear voices in his head, sometimes offering him help, sometimes threatening him harm.
The voices belonged to Lilura and Tharion, who had both sensed the mirror’s awakening. They both wanted to reclaim their lost treasure, and they both tried to influence the adventurer through the mirror. They offered him visions of his heart’s desire, or showed him his worst fears. They tried to charm him, or dominate him. They tried to make him their ally, or their enemy.
The adventurer was torn between them, unsure who to trust or what to do. He wondered if he should keep the mirror, or destroy it, or give it away. He wondered if he could control it, or if it would control him.
He wondered what secrets the mirror held, and what price he would have to pay for them.
