Your attacks are made with disadvantage and deal bludgeoning damage, as you struggle to swing the weapon with precision.

Mastery

If your Strength score is 17 or higher, you can use your extra attack features with the weapon, but you still have disadvantage on your attacks.
The weapon deals slashing damage, as you manage to hit with the blade more often.

Precision

If your Strength score is 19 or higher, you can attack without disadvantage with the weapon.
The weapon’s bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +2.

Giant's Might

In addition, you can use a bonus action to activate the weapon’s Giant’s Might feature. For 1 minute, you double in size, along with anything you are wearing or carrying. While in this form, you deal slashing damage with the weapon. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Perfection

If your Strength score is 23 or higher, you are not bothered by the weight and size of the weapon at all.
The weapon’s bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +3 and you can throw the weapon as a ranged weapon with a range of 30/60 feet. The weapon deals slashing and bludgeoning damage on a hit.

Lore

Grommash was a giant warlord who ruled over a vast territory in the northern mountains. He was feared and respected by his kin and enemies alike, for he possessed a legendary weapon: a greataxe forged from the stone and metal of the mountain itself. The weapon was so large and heavy that only Grommash could wield it with ease, and he used it to crush his foes and carve his name into the stone.
Grommash’s reign was challenged by many rivals, but none could match his strength and skill. He defeated them all, one by one, and claimed their lands and treasures as his own. He amassed a great horde of gold, gems, and magic items, but he valued none of them as much as his greataxe. He named it Kragar, the Mountain-Crusher, after an ancient dragon that was rumoured to have lived in the mountains long ago.
Grommash’s downfall came when he faced an ancient enemy: a dragon of the same kind that Kragar had been. The dragon had been sleeping for centuries, but it was awakened by the tremors caused by Grommash’s conquests. It sensed the presence of its kin in the mountain, and it sought to destroy it. It flew to Grommash’s lair, where it confronted him in a fierce battle. Grommash fought back with courage, but he was no match for the dragon’s might. He fell to the ground, mortally wounded, clutching his greataxe.
The dragon was about to finish him off, when it noticed a strange mark on the weapon. The weapon had been imbued with some of Grommash’s essence. The dragon realized that the weapon had become more than just a tool; it had become a symbol of Grommash’s legacy. The dragon respected Grommash’s spirit, and decided to leave the greataxe with him. It flew away, leaving behind a trail of smoke.
The greataxe remained in Grommash’s lair for many years, until it was discovered by a group of adventurers who had heard of its legend. They managed to lift the weapon from Grommash’s corpse, and took it with them as a trophy. Since then, the weapon has changed hands many times, passing from one warrior to another who have proven their strength and courage. Some have used it for good, others for evil. But none have been able to master it completely, for the weapon still remembers its first and greatest owner: Grommash.
