In a remove part of an ancient forest, there lived an orc druid named Gruk. Unlike his kin, Gruk was a gentle giant, with a heart as wide as the rivers and a soul as deep as the roots of the oldest trees. He was known among the woodland creatures as the Keeper of the Unichorn Wand, a sacred relic he had stumbled upon during one of his meditative wanderings.
The wand, with its ethereal glow and whispers of meadows and moonlight, had chosen Gruk for reasons only the spirits of the forest knew. It was said that the wand was created by a celestial being, a guardian of the unicorns, who sought to protect the magic of the world from those who would misuse it. The wand’s core, a unicorn’s horn, was a symbol of pure magic, and it resonated with Gruk’s innate connection to the natural world.Gruk used the wand to heal the wounded animals he found, to calm the frightened spirits, and to bring light to the darkest corners of the forest with the dancing unicorns that sprang forth from the wand’s tip. The creatures of the Glimmerwood often spoke of the gentle orc who walked with unicorns, a sight that brought hope to all who beheld it.
One day, a young human girl, lost and afraid, stumbled into the Glimmerwood. It was Gruk who found her, his Unichorn Wand glowing softly in the twilight. With a touch of the wand and a few whispered words, the girl’s fears were eased, and the dancing unicorns led her safely out of the woods.
The girl left, her footsteps fading into the distance. Gruk wondered what brought the girl into the forest. For a moment he considered going after her, but quickly decided against it. He knew that the true magic lay not in grand tales but in the quiet moments—the rustle of leaves, the dew-kissed petals, and the bond between a druid and his wand.
As seasons turned, Gruk’s hair silvered, and the grove embraced him as one of its own. He no longer yearned for recognition or applause. Instead, he reveled in the simplicity of life—the taste of wild berries, the warmth of sun-dappled stones, and the companionship of the unicorns.
